Pentago, were appointed to do the master planning, design the landscape concepts and sketch design for the new Al Mogran CBD in Khartoum, located at the meeting point of the White Nile from Uganda and the Blue Nile from Ethiopia. The master planning for the multi-billion dollar project was proposed by a collaborative team with ZDR Architects. Pentago were involved in the landscape planning, development of landscape design guidelines for the CBD as well as design of the streetscape, town parks and pedestrian nodal points. In addition, Pentago were also put in charge of the landscape for the E&G Parslow Signatory Golf Course as well as the concept design for the golf course housing.
With extensive research of the culture, climate and building guidelines in Sudan and the African region, our team’s experience and comprehensive knowledge of tropical living offered a refreshing approach to the project. One of our pioneering implementations, the Nile riverfront promenade, was a popular hit for locals seeking open ‘people’ spaces. Scenic views of the river Nile combined with modern concepts such as al fresco dining new to Khartoum were introduced. Public squares and roundabouts were also included as a central focus for the city.
