Located next to the famous diving site of Sipadan Island, Lepa-Lepa is an ultra high-end resort that sits entirely on the surface of the ocean. The term ‘Lepa-Lepa’ describes the prow of the boats used by the Bayan people, signifying the strength and status of the occupant. The resort is aptly named as the indigenous Bayan live their entire lives on the waters around Sempurna. Pentago designed the landscape, which lies completely above the ocean.
This floating paradise shares a symbiotic relationship with its crystal-clear waters. The pristine environment is well protected and the resort has little to no impact on it. The resort is self-sustaining and rainwater is reutilised with state-of-the-art recycling systems and technology. Its dive centre is host to a school for marine research, with donations going to local dive and environmental societies.
The philosophy of Lepa-Lepa is one close to Pentago’s heart – making environmentally-friendly developments a commercially viable prospect.
